“Now in his sixth year as attorney general, Eric Holder has increasingly tilted the department in an ideological direction” writes John Fund of the New York Post. To say Eric Holder has politicized his own department is an understatement as Holder believes in his own inherent power to rule. Case in point was last Tuesday, when Holder appeared before the House Judiciary Committee for an oversight hearing regarding former IRS official Lois Lerner in her selective targeting of conservative groups.
This is when Representative Louie Gohmert got into a heated exchange with Holder over the attorney generals’ handling of the IRS scandal. Gohmert stated that “contempt was not a big deal to our attorney general” referring to the fact that the House voted to hold Holder in contempt for not turning over documents sought by congress in its probe of Operation Fast & Furious. This “scandal” resulted in the death of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry and was directly due to the reckless and negligent operation the Department of Justice instigated.
Holder responded to Gohmert by warning,”You don’t want to go there, buddy..I don’t need any lectures from a congressman”. As Gohmert delivered the truth in the form of a follow up statement regarding Holder’s stonewalling of congress that led to his contempt, Holder reacted by blaming racism.
While speaking at an event held by Al Sharpton’s National Action Network last Wednesday, Holder chanted,”look at the way the attorney general of the U.S. was treated yesterday by a House Committee. Who has ever had that kind of treatment?” Holder further noted that, “the last 5 years have been defined by significant strides. Even in the face of unprecedented, unwarranted, ugly and divisive adversity”.
Eric Holder responds to a congressman with a verbal threat, politicizes this threat as being justified because of racism against him and effectively disenfranchises the truth. That truth being Holders actions in stonewalling a congressional investigation into an issue he believes does not need to be addressed. Sadly, that is the current posture of our attorney general and may as well serve as the political climate of Obama’s adminstration.
When confronted by the truth that calls out your lie, respond with emotion and politicized your opponent as being racist.
Noting this blueprint,Oversight Minority Leader Elijah Cummings last Wednesday decided to use a smear tactic in accusing the Chairman of the committee Darrell Issa of “McCarthyism”. The reason being? Issa produced truth in the form of evidence showing that Cummings had made numerous requests in emails to the IRS directing the IRS to target the conservative group True The Vote.
The emails are outright damming as they show evidence of criminal misconduct on behalf of a man overseeing the investigation into the IRS for the behavior he himself committed.
When Cummings was confronted with this evidence he responded by smearing Issa of McCarthyism. Cummings stated, “We oppose Chairman Issa’s efforts to recreate the oversight committee in Joe McCarthy’s image and we reject attempts to drag us back to that shameful era in which congress tried to strip away the constitutional rights of American citizens under the bright lights of hearings that had nothing to do with responsible oversight and everything to do with the most dishonorable kind of partisan politics”.
This is one of the best examples of hypocrisy that criminals such as Cummings use in their attempt to disregard their own criminal conduct as irrelevant. Cummings is bringing about a new shameful era in which a congressman can diminish evidence of his own involvement in corruption by reacting with emotional appeal. In claiming that Issa is attempting to strip away his first amendment right, Cummings rejects his own involvement in literally doing just that.
Finally and most notably, the biggest hypocrite of them all is Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. On Thursday, according to Laura Myers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Reid called supporters of Bunkerville rancher Cliven Bundy “domestic terrorists” because they defended Bundy against the Bureau of Land Management in their cattle roundup. Reid even went as far as to state, “Those people who hold themselves out to be patriots are not. They’re nothing more than domestic terrorists”.
What Reid was referring to was the Cliven Bundy ranch situation, which only came to a boiling point because of the federal governments actions. Predominately those actions being that of the agents of the Bureau of Land Management. The escalation came when agents arrived with military style equipment and taser’d several protesters on a road leading to the ranch after the protesters stepped outside the designated free speech zones.
Reid called those who would stand against these tactics as terrorists for they were willing to fight against the federal government’s aggression. Remember, it was the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) who instigated such a response as they showed up at the Bundy ranch with sniper rifles trained on protesters. Tensions were then escalated as the BLM designated “free speech zones” as areas where protesters were allowed their freedom of speech all the while snipers were trained on them. In doing this, one has to question who was really the “domestic terrorists” in the first place?
Harry Reid would have you believe it was the ones willing to stand against the BLM for such tactics. Yet, in reality, it was the BLM who instigated and escalated the situation in their over-the-top response to disperse “trespassing cattle”. Reid believes he is above the law in his defense of the BLM’s “free speech zones” that neglects the reality of the situation as a whole. Reid, in hypocritical fashion, sides with politicizing the Bundy ranch situation and thumbs his nose at America and our history.
Reid’s definition of what constitutes a “domestic terrorist” is a slap in the face to what this country was founded upon. Had Harry Reid been alive during the American Revolution and stated that those who defend citizens against the government as terrorists, one would consider him British for his anti-American and foreign stance.
What these three men have shown is that their allegiance is not to the American people. Their allegiance lies within their ill conceived notion that the citizens of this country can be controlled by a corrupt overreaching centralized government. And when an attorney general has become more corrupt than the criminals he investigates, a congressman claims the truth as racist and a Senator deem’s patriots as terrorists, corruption effectively trumps the truth.
Sadly, the selling out of America is not confined to just Holder, Cummings and Reid as these are only the most recent examples that have come to light within the past week.
