Analysts' note: We hope these possible Ebola cases do NOT come to fruition. In this case of NYC it is being reported that,
"The number of people under "active monitoring" for Ebola symptoms has increased from 117 on Monday to 357 people Wednesday, health officials said.
The vast majority of those being monitored arrived in New York City within the past 21 days from the three Ebola-affected countries, the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation said in a statement."
As reported in Ebola-Quarantine Objections Are Frivolous ".... there are in fact only four facilities nationwide that meet the CDC’s biocontainment standards for Ebola treatment. Combined, they have no more than 26 beds. (And that may actually overstate capacity: Officials have told ABC News that the system can handle a maximum of eleven Ebola patients at any given time.) Mind you, this assumes outbreaks of no other infectious diseases, like SARS."
Just for the record, without labs and capabilities such as these small number of needed isolation areas available in the United States, I'd like to know just exactly what are the doctors and nurses are actually doing in West Africa to ease the suffering and possibly cure Ebola. My guess is it is more general comfort and assured isolation than any cure techniques while hoping for the disease to burn itself out in the area as it has done over the years. I'm confident that I'm correct, since there is no known cure for Ebola. So will someone please explain to me again why we still continue to bring West Africans from Ebola "hot zones" into the United States and send our military forces into "fight" Ebola? I strongly suggest that this is all "politically correct" action.
