Talk of manufacturing chemical weapons was featured in evidence aired Friday at the Canadian trial of a 20-year-old citizen facing terrorism charges, the Canadian Press reported (see GSN, June 12, 2006).
The trial is the last to address a group of 18 youths arrested in
Some of those recordings were played yesterday, when those in the courtroom heard mention of a “mujahed cookbook,” a set of instructions for making weapons.
“They’re all in there,” said the group’s suspected ringleader. “It’s like homemade chemical weapons, homemade this. … Everything you can think of.”
“What every mujahed should know,” added the police informant.
The tapes also revealed that group members feared their arrest by authorities.
“I’m just like, yo, I’m like a sitting duck,” the alleged ringleader said. “I know I’m going to jail any day” (Chinta Puxley, Canadian Press/Toronto Globe and Mail, June 7).
